NEST Capacity Building Path in Italy successfully accomplished
Overview

The NEST Capacity Building Path “Skills Development on smart destination and smart company management” organised and implemented by project partner TECNOPOLIS PST was successfully accomplished.

The path involved 19 Apulian tourism operators who, by means of videoconferencing and collaborative learning techniques, were exposed to presentations held by 22 experts, 14 testimonies from Apulian and national tourism actors and focusing on the most relevant aspects of smart destination and smart company management.

The path, which lasted 40 hours, entailed 25 teaching units, 4 meetings of the course community and several one2one meetings between participants and the coordinator of the initiative. All presented materials and sources were made available to participants through a portal, which was both repository for the collection and consultation of working documents as well as platform of discussion and exchange of ideas.

The path was designed as to support participants in the creation of a "smart tourism destination". To this end, they were stimulated as to learn about the main actions in the field of innovation, digital technologies, sustainability and accessibility. They also were exposed to analyses of practical cases and learnt how to hypothesise cross-border "smart" paths focusing on two topics that are relevant for the Italy-Albania-Montenegro cooperation area: the discovery of pre-Roman and Roman cultural heritage and trekking and biking activities in natural parks.

The final meeting of the path was an opportunity for a transnational discussion involving participants of a similar capacity building initiative implemented by the Albanian partners.

Following the accomplishment of this activity, TECNOPOLIS has published a Selection of ideas and companies for the creation of new routes for "smart tourism destination" in Apulia and Molise, addressed to the target groups involved in the project’s pilot and living lab actions as well as in the participatory creation of initiatives in project’s target territories.
